Champps Americana is a restaurant chain that's also a sports bar. It's a place where families and friends can enjoy a relaxed meal, often while watching sports games. There are currently 5 Champps restaurants located in different parts of the United States.
The Story of Champps
Champps started in 1984 in a city called Saint Paul, Minnesota. Back then, it was a small restaurant known as Concourse 7.
Soon after, the restaurant changed its name to "Champps." It also became a sports bar, which means it started selling things like burgers, sandwiches, and drinks. They added big television screens so people could watch sports games while they ate.
Who Owns Champps?
Champps is owned by a company called Champps Entertainment, Inc. This company is connected to another group called Fox & Hound Restaurant Group. The parent company of Fox & Hound bought Champps Entertainment in 2007.
Recent Years
Like some other businesses, Champps faced financial challenges. The restaurant chain had to file for bankruptcy protection in December 2013 and again in August 2016. When a company files for bankruptcy, it means they are asking for legal help to manage their debts.
As of August 2025, there are 5 Champps locations still open. You can find them in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, New York, and Mississippi.
