Description: Poor air quality persists over India (left) Bangladesh (center) and Myanmar (right). This image from January 14, 2002, shows a thick blanket of pollution butting up against the Himalayas (arcing across the top of the image) and stretching out into the Bay of Bengal (bottom). Tan-colored sediment fills the Bay through the Mouths of the Ganges River (image center). North of the Himalayas, the skies are clear over the Tibetan Plateau.
