Description: Cyanthillium cinereum, Syn. Vernonia cinerea, known as Common Vernonia and Little Ironweed, is a species of perennial plant from Asteraceae family that can be found in most part of Asia. It can be confused with Emilia sonchifolia, but the flower bracts of the latter are much longer and vase-shaped. The stems branch repeatedly at the top to hold aloft the small cylindrical, purple flower heads. Flowers throughout the year. Originally from Central America, now a pantropical weed, it is sometimes considered native to Western Australia. Found in upland crop areas, waste places and roadsides throughout India.
