Description: A dimensionally accurate replica of the 1847 roadometer, handmade by Jeff Niven using Larry Howell's measurements. The 4-toothed gear is displayed on the front side, but on the pioneer trek it was located between the largest gear and the side of the wagon. The shaft of the worm gear was longer to reach down to the axle of the wagon, which had a pegs that would turn one of six pegs on the shaft.
