Description: The Wilbur Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Watauga River in Carter County, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The generators discharge water through the tunnels and gates shown on the left side of the image. The whitewater rafting "put-in" for the Watauga River is located out-of-frame and the immediate right side and out-of-frame of this image. The Bee Cliff Rapids are located approximately twenty minutes downstream from this location shown in the image.
