Description: Young brown pelicans, Pelecanus occidentalis, repeatedly circled and splashed near my kayak. They would float while scanning the surface and then lurch from the water on giant angel wings, circling and splashing down again, perhaps catching a few fish. The leaves of nearby mangrove trees reflected on the water. Munyon Island at John D MacArthur Beach State Park.
