Krug Park (now called Gallagher Park) was an amusement park located in the Benson neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska, USA. It was a popular place for fun and entertainment in the early 1900s. A notable event in 1930 involved a serious roller coaster accident at the park.

History of Krug Park

The park first opened in 1895. It was started by Charles Tietz, an early German-American pioneer in Omaha. In 1902, the Frederick Krug Brewing Company bought the park. They renamed it Krug Park.

Under the Krug family, the park became a lively place. It had a beer garden and many exciting amusement rides. Some of the fun attractions included a tunnel of love and an ice cream parlor. You could even ride a hot air balloon!

Every night, dancers performed in a special dance pavilion. In 1918, more features were added. These included Swimming pools, a waterfall, and a wave machine. There was also a two-story bathhouse. Fred Krug, the owner, called it "a complete amusement park." Early ads for Krug Park called it "Omaha's Polite Resort."

After Krug Park closed, the area was changed. In 1955, it was turned into a traditional style park. It was renamed Gallagher Park. Today, it is a public park for everyone to enjoy.

Gallagher Park is about 18.8 acres (7.6 hectares) in size. It has three ball fields for sports. There is also a playground for younger kids. A city swimming pool is a big attraction. The pool has a water slide, diving boards, and other fun water features. It's a great place for families to spend time outdoors.
