Larry Paul Arnn, born on October 8, 1952, is an American teacher and leader in education. Since May 2000, he has been the twelfth president of Hillsdale College, a private school in Hillsdale, Michigan.

Early Life and Learning Journey
Larry Arnn was born on October 8, 1952, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He went to Arkansas State University. There, he earned a bachelor's degree in political science and accounting in 1974. Political science is the study of how governments work.
He continued his studies at Claremont Graduate School. He earned two more degrees in government. These were a master's degree in 1976 and a Ph.D. in 1985. A Ph.D. is the highest degree you can get from a university.
From 1977 to 1980, Arnn studied history in England. He learned about international history at the London School of Economics. Later, he studied modern history at Worcester College, Oxford.
While studying in England, Arnn worked with Sir Martin Gilbert. Sir Gilbert was writing the official story of Winston Churchill. Arnn helped by editing the last six books of documents for Churchill's biography.
Career in Education and Leadership
In 1980, Larry Arnn became an editor for Public Research, Syndicated. This was in the United States. He also helped start the Claremont Institute in Claremont, California. He led this organization as its president from 1985 to 2000.
In 2000, he became the 12th president of Hillsdale College. This is a big job leading a college. In 2001, he promised to raise $400 million for the college. This money was for a special project called the Founders Campaign. Since he became president, many new buildings have been built at the college.
In 2002, Arnn joined the board of trustees at The Heritage Foundation. This foundation works on public policy. In 2012, they asked him to be their president. However, he chose to stay at Hillsdale College.
Arnn is also part of several other groups. He is on the board of directors for the Henry Salvatori Center. He is also a member of the Mont Pelerin Society and the Churchill Centre.
In December 2020, he was chosen to lead the 1776 Commission. This group advised on patriotic education. However, the commission was ended by President Joe Biden shortly after.
Personal Life
Larry Arnn married his wife, Penny, in 1979. Penny is from Britain. They later moved to California. There, they had three children and adopted a fourth.
In 2000, the family moved to Michigan. This was when Arnn became president of Hillsdale College. He took over from George Roche. Arnn's father-in-law was Colonel Denis Arthur Sydenham Houghton. He was once a high sheriff in Lancashire, England.
