Livewire was a cool TV talk show made just for kids and teenagers! It aired on the Nickelodeon channel in the United States. The show started in September 1980 and ran until 1985.
Livewire focused on real-life news and important stories happening at the time. It was filmed live in New York City at the famous Ed Sullivan Theater. The show had a small audience of about 20 to 30 teenagers who got to be part of the show.
The first host was Mark Cordray. Later, Fred Newman took over as the main host. Livewire was a very popular show. It even won a CableACE Award, which was a big deal for a Nickelodeon talk show! In 1982, it was the number one show on Nickelodeon. It always stayed in the top seven most-watched shows during its five years on air.
One of the coolest things about Livewire was that it gave new bands and singers their very first chance to be on television. Many famous people and groups appeared on the show before they became huge stars!
