Louise Archambault is a talented Canadian film and television director and screenwriter. This means she is in charge of making movies and TV shows, and she also writes the stories for them! She is famous for her films Familia (2005) and Gabrielle (2013).
Her movie Familia won the Claude Jutra Award in 2005. Later, Gabrielle won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Picture in 2014. This is one of the biggest awards for films in Canada!
Louise Archambault has directed many short films, which are shorter movies. Some of these include Atomic Saké, Lock, and Petite Mort. Her film Gabrielle was shown at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, a very important film event. It also won two Canadian Screen Awards: Best Picture and Best Actress for its star, Gabrielle Marion-Rivard.
Her third feature film, And the Birds Rained Down, came out in 2019. It was based on a book by Jocelyne Saucier. Later that same year, her fourth film, Thanks for Everything (also known as Merci pour tout), was released. In 2023, she released One Summer (Le temps d'un été). Also in 2023, she made her first English-language film called Irena's Vow. This movie tells the true story of a nurse who helped hide Jewish people during World War II in Poland.
Louise Archambault studied film at Concordia University in Montreal. She earned two degrees there, one in 1993 and another in 2000.
