Monkey Puzzle is a popular children's picture book. It was written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The book was first published in 2000 by Alison Green Books. In the United States of America, it is known as Where's My Mom?. Julia Donaldson dedicated this special book to her cousin's children: Tom, Billy, Emma, and Katie.
The Story of Monkey Puzzle
The book tells an exciting story about a young, lost monkey. This little monkey is all alone in the big, thick jungle. She desperately wants to find her mom.
A Helpful Friend
Luckily, a kind butterfly offers to help the monkey. The butterfly tries to guess where the monkey's mom might be. However, the butterfly keeps suggesting the wrong animals.
Who is Monkey's Mom?
The butterfly points to many different jungle animals. She suggests an elephant, a long snake, a busy spider, a colorful parrot, a jumping frog, and even a sleepy bat. Each time, the monkey explains why that animal cannot be her mother. For example, her mom doesn't have a trunk like an elephant.
Finding Family
Finally, the butterfly and the monkey find the monkey's Dad. He tells the little monkey it's time to go home. Soon after, the butterfly spots the monkey's lost mother. The monkey is very happy to be reunited with her mom. The butterfly is also happy that she could help!
