Seapoint facts for kids
Seapoint is a small area by the sea in Dublin, Ireland. It sits between the towns of Blackrock and Monkstown. Seapoint is famous for its lovely beach and places where people can go swimming.
Right next to the beach, you'll find a historic Martello Tower. The beach at Seapoint is very special. It has won an International Blue Flag award. It also has a national Green Flag award. These awards mean the beach is clean and safe.
The Martello Tower at Seapoint
The Martello Tower is a strong, round fort. It was built a long time ago to protect the coast. Today, this old tower has a new purpose. It is now the main office for the Genealogical Society of Ireland. This society helps people research their family history.
Getting to Seapoint
Seapoint is located on a strip of land. This land is found between a main road and the sea. The road is called Seapoint Avenue. It is part of the N31 road. The N31 connects Dún Laoghaire harbour to the larger N11 National Primary Route. A railway line also runs through this area.
Seapoint Boat Club
A boat club used to be active in Seapoint. In 1924, a man named Michael Mahony built six special small boats. These boats were 12 feet long. They became the main boats for the sailing club. The club was active for about 10 years.
