Smiley is a small city located in Gonzales County, Texas. In 2020, about 475 people lived there. The city got its start in the early 1870s. It was founded when a trader and sheepherder named John Smiley settled near a long, narrow lake. This lake later became known as Smiley Lake, named after him.
The students in Smiley attend schools that are part of the Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District.
