Zulema L'Astròloga (born around 1190 – died after 1229) was a clever Moorish astronomer. She lived in a time when people looked to the stars to understand the world.

Zulema was a noblewoman from the Moorish city of Madina Mayurqa, which is now Mallorca. She was the mother of a person named Alí de la Palomera. Alí helped James I of Aragon when he conquered Mallorca in 1229. Zulema herself was known as a very skilled astronomer.

After the conquest, Zulema and her family were allowed to stay on the island. People tell stories about her even today. One famous story says that a medieval tower in Sant Elm, Andratx, was where she used to watch the stars and study the sky.

Zulema in History and Poems

Zulema L'Astròloga is mentioned in old writings. She appears in the Crònica, a historical book written by Bernat Desclot around her time. This shows that she was an important person in her era.

Later, in 1871, a poem called N'Alí de la Palomera was written by Pere d’Alcàntara. This poem also talks about Zulema. Another poet, Tomàs Fortesa, also wrote about her. These poems helped keep her story alive through the centuries.
