Ackerman, California facts for kids
Ackerman was once a small place where people lived in Placer County, California. It's not a town or city anymore, but it used to be.
What Was Ackerman?
Ackerman was located about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east of a town called Westville. It was known as a "former settlement" because people no longer live there, and it's not recognized as a community today.
How Did Ackerman Get Its Name?
This small settlement was named after its first postmaster, John Q. Ackerman. A postmaster is the person in charge of a post office, which is where people send and receive mail. The Ackerman post office was open for a short time, from 1896 to 1899.
