Ayorinde Fasanmi (born September 27, 1925 – died July 29, 2020) was an important Nigerian leader. He was a pharmacist, someone who prepares and sells medicines, and a politician, someone involved in government.
Early Life and Education
Ayo Fasanmi was born in 1925 in a place called Iye Ekiti. This area is located in Ekiti State, in southwestern Nigeria.
He went to St Paul's primary school and Government School in Ibadan. Later, he studied at the Pharmacy School of Yaba. There, he earned a diploma to become a pharmacist. Before becoming a politician, he worked for a short time as a pharmacist in Oshogbo.
Political Journey
Ayo Fasanmi started his political career in 1978. He joined a political group called the Unity Party of Nigeria. He tried to become the governor of Ondo State but did not win the election.
In 1983, he was chosen to be a member of the Federal House of Representatives. He represented the Ondo North area. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Old Western Nigeria Housing Corporation. This group helped with housing projects.
Later, during a period known as the Fourth Nigerian Republic, he held an important position. He was the National Vice Chairman for the Southwest zone of the Alliance for Democracy party.
Family Life
Ayo Fasanmi was married to Madam Adejoke. She passed away in October 2014 at the age of 82.
