Cressona Mall is a shopping mall located in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. You can find it near Route 61 and Route 183. This mall first opened its doors in 1976. It's a place where people can shop, eat, and find different services.
History of Cressona Mall
The Cressona Mall has changed quite a bit over the years. In the early 1980s, a store called Laneco planned to open there. They wanted to use the space where a former store, Grant's, used to be.
The mall got a fresh new look with outside renovations in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, Alvernia University opened a smaller campus inside the mall. They used old office and store areas for their classes.
CVS Pharmacy left the mall in 2010. A few years later, in 2014, Goodwill opened a new store in that same spot. In February 2015, something unexpected happened: a main water pipe for the sprinklers broke during very cold weather.
Later in 2015, the mall had some financial issues. Because of this, the mall was sold at an auction. Wells Fargo bought it on October 15, 2015. After the sale, new businesses started to move in. Planet Fitness opened its doors in November 2016. Goodwill also made its store bigger in February 2017.
In 2018, a store called Cinderella's Closet opened at Cressona Mall. It had moved from another local mall that had closed. The mall changed owners again in November 2019. It was sold to three different companies working together: Cressona Realty LLC, Cressona CH LLC, and Cressona Nassim LLC.
