The buildings are designated as contributing properties to the Georgetown Historic District, a National Historic Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1967.

1300 30th Street, N.W., also known as the Beall House, was built in 1811. Previous occupants include:


Dr. Grafton Tyler, former dean of the National Medical College (predecessor to The George Washington University Medical School) and a Confederate sympathizer.

Abe Fortas, former Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Amory Houghton, former executive at Corning Incorporated and former U.S. ambassador to France. Sherlock Davis, former government attorney with the Economic Cooperation Administration and former general counsel for the U.S. Cuban Sugar Council, a lobbying firm.

John Newton Mitchell, the U.S. Attorney General under President Richard Nixon and the only U.S. Attorney General to serve a prison sentence.


1302 30th Street, N.W., an example of Georgian Revival architecture, was built in 1887.
