Built in 1890, the Romanesque Revival-style homes are designated as contributing properties to the Dupont Circle Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Former occupants of 1723 P Street, N.W., include Confederate Colonel Joseph Powhatan Minetree and Assistant Architect of the Capitol George H. Williams. Former occupants of 1725 P Street, N.W., include Medal of Honor recipient Colonel John Tweedale, author Willard R. Espy, and offices of the Natural Resources Defense Council. Former occupants of 1727 P Street, N.W., include Walter Proctor Jenney, Ph. D., chargé d'affaires of the Mexican embassy José F. Godoy, Colonel David Jacob Rumbough, and Brigadier General Dion Williams.
