Description: The crew of the Imperial Japanese Navy submarine I-29 before disembarking in Sabang, Sumatra, then under Japanese occupation, on 6 May 1943, Earlier, the submarine had rendezvoused with the Kriegsmarine German submarine U-180, 300 sm southeast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. During the rendezvous, Indian nationalist Subhas Chandra Bose, shown here sitting on the left in the front row (with glasses and hat), was transferred.
