Description: Kaplan Hall of The New School (right), 76 (74-76) West 12th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was designed in 1955 by Mayer, Whittlesey & Glass and built in 1960. It connects by an interior walkway to 65 West 11th Street, built at the same time, and designed by the same firm. To the east of it is 66 (66-72) West 12th Street, Johnson Hall of The New School, which was built in 1930 and designed by Joseph Urban. It has been referred to by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission as "an architectural masterpiece". All the buildings are located within the Greenwich Village Historic District.
