Description: View of the stern of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42)as an approaching aircraft would see it while underway in the Mediterranean Sea. The exact date is unknown. It was taken between 2 January 1970 through 16 July 1975 when Attack Carrier Air Wing 6 (CVW-6) was embarked. The photo seems to be from the early 1970s, when the following squadrons were assigend to CVW-6: VF-41 "Black Aces" (McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II), VF-84 "Jolly Rogers" (F-4J), VA-15 "Valions" (LTV A-7B Corsair II), VA-87 "Golden Warriors" (A-7B), VA-176 "Thunderbolts" (Grumman A-6A Intruder), VFP-63 Det.42 "Eyes of the Fleet" (Vought RF-8G Crusader), VAW-121 Det.42 "Griffins" (Grumman E-1B Tracer), VAQ-130 Det. 42 "Zappers" (Douglas EKA-3B Skywarrior), and HC-2 DET.42 "Fleet Angels" (Kaman UH-2A/B Seasprite).
