Description: Blue-eyed doll, Laura Margaret. In 1927, children in the United States sent over 12,000 dolls to Japanese elementary school children as a gesture of friendship. This is one of the few which survived World War 2, named Laura Margaret. Other dolls were banished from schools during the war as "enemy dolls" and were destroyed, but this one was kept secretly in a storeroom during and after the war. The doll had once been displayed at school in a glass case with great care along with her passport, and recently was rediscovered in 1983 in a warehouse of the school at en:Hakusan, Ishikawa (near en:Shirayama Hime Shrine) during spring cleaning. She was displayed at Tsurugi Library, Hakusan city, Ishikawa prefecture, Japan, during the summer 2015.
