Wallace, Winslow. Navajo is the youngest county in the Territory, having been created by an act ofthe eighteenth legislative assembly from the western portion of Apache County,and lies in the northeastern portion of the Territory. It is about 240 miles long,north and south, and about 53 miles wide, east and west, and contains about 10,000square miles, or about one-tenth the total length of the Territory. The countyproper, or that which is outside of Indian reservations, is about 100 miles north andsouth by 53 miles east and west. The Moqui and Navajo Indian reservations coverthe whole of the northern portion of the county, while the southern portion is coveredin part by the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation. The county has a population of about 4,000. Its principal industries are cattleand sheep raising and agriculture. WINSLOW. Winslow, the largest town in the county, has a population of about 1,200.
