Description: Archaeopteryx sp., partial skeleton. This specimen is called “the eighth specimen” and was probably found around 1990 at the village of Daiting in the bavarian part of Suevia, Germany, and is therefore also referred to as “the Daiting specimen”. It comprises a badly preserved skull (right), left and right scapula (below the skull), left humerus, tibia, fibula, and a partial manus as well as a right partial humerus (centre and left). It was for the first time ever on public display at the the 2009 Munich Mineral Days, where this photo was taken. The image shows the original fossil – not a cast.
