Description: The lower Artichoke River, the border between Newburyport and West Newbury. This isolated stretch between the reservoir and the Merrimack is rich in wildlife. Eagles customarily feed here. View from the swamp on the right bank below Curzon Mill Road. The river is named from the "Jerusalem Artichoke", a sunflower featuring tubers consumed by Indians and colonials.
