Description: Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a United States National Park located in western Colorado, USA. Taken by myself, Jesse Varner on 7/17/2005 https://www.flickr.com/photos/molas/27273359/ . This photo shows the "Painted Wall" cliff, which is about 670 metres high. Dykes of light-coloured Vernal Mesa pegmatite, about 1.43 billion years old, have intruded into dark-coloured gneiss, which is about 1.73 billion years old.
