Description: Cross-sectional diagram for the Black Eagle Dam on the Missouri River in Great Falls, Montana, United States. J.T. Fanning was the consulting engineer. Maurice S. Parker was the engineer. The dam was a straight run-of-the-river gravity rock-and-timber crib weir dam which permitted water to overflow the top of the dam. The drawing depicts the rock-and-timber crib structure of the dam, in which wooden timbers formed "cribs" in which rock, gravel, and concrete were poured. The dam's downstream face is to the left. The diagram also depicts (for comparison) the masonry wall which was built at the north and south abutment of the dam.
