Description: Bloody Oaks Quarry. This quarry was marked on maps nearly 200 years ago. The name Bloody Oaks was reputedly given to nearby woodland following the nearby Battle of Empingham, 1470, where the Yorkists were victorious and in the process slaughtered up to 10,000 Lancastrians in the woods.
