Description: Ankle bracelets - Ivory Coast These bracelets were worn by noble women, sometimes by traditional healers, mid-twentieth century. The bells had a musical function but also aesthetic and ostentatious. Their size and number indicated the social status of the person. Bracelets three or five bells should belong to unmarried girls.
