Description: Chester's City Walls - Bridgegate to Eastgate #9 This is the view along the city walls from the top of the Wishing Steps. The remains of the medieval Watchtower are just ahead, and it is a popular viewing platform. The base of the Watchtower still has cannon ball marks, which date to the time of the English civil war. The next 'torch' signpost, just past the tower, is at the top of some steps and a ramp, which provide access to the walls from Park Street. The landscaped garden and steps to the right of the walls are part of the so-called Roman Garden, which provides a home for a varied collection of Roman stones. The next photo in the series is taken from by the 'torch' signpost.
