Description: Christian Girls Arriving at School, Jammu, ca.1875-ca.1940 Photograph of five Indian Christian girls arriving at school. The girls, who range in age, are standing outside a wooden door. Three of the girls have books, or school work, in their hands.; This belongs to a series of Church of Scotland Foreign Missions Committee lantern slides relating to Jammu City, which is also known as the "City of Temples". A mission station occupied by Church of Scotland missionaries was founded here in the late 19th/early 20th century. Jammu is also one of the three administrative divisions within Jammu and Kashmir, the northernmost state in India.
