Image: Clifton, AZ train station
Description: Clifton, AZ train station, builtilt in 1901 by the Arizona & New Mexico RR that was later merged into Southern Pacific. Scheduled passenger train service was discontinued in 1967. It is now used by the Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations. Clifton, AZ is an old copper mining town that has gone through several boom and bust cycles in the last 125 years (currently heading into another "bust" cycle). I am glad the train station survived the trials and tribulations of the last century! A replica of the Clifton station was built in Scottsdale, AZ at Stillman Railroad Park. I like the original myself.
