Description: Coat of arms of the Danish city of Roskilde. The motif is known from seals from the 1250's. The species or meaning of the bird is unknown but it has been speculated that it is derived from the German eagle. Another proposal for the origin of the bird is that is canting for Høgekøbing (hawk-city) a city whose population allegedly was moved to Roskilde. The stream is canting.
