Description: The Cave Hyena (Crocuta crocuta spelaea) is an extinct subspecies of spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta) native to Eurasia, ranging from Northern China to Spain and into the British Isles. This fossil is kept is on display in the National Museum of Natural History "Naturalis" in Leiden, the Netherlands. It was found in St. Vallier, France and dates 100.000 - 10.000 years.
