Description: The arms were officially granted on July 28, 1949 by the minister of the interior of Rhinland-Palatinate. The arms show the symbols of the former rulers of the district. The chequy shield is derived from the arms of County of Sponheim and the lion ist the lion of the County of Veldenz.
