Description: The arms were officially granted on August 2, 1974. The arms are a combination of the arms of Further Austria (fess) and the Margraviate of Baden (bend), as the largest part of the district was historically either part of Further Austria or Baden. The eagle is taken from the arms of the Princes of Fürstenberg, who also had several estates in the district and is also part of the arms of the city of Breisach.
