Description: Line 3 workers assemble 3.7 calibre anti-aircraft shells at the Defence Industries Limited (DIL) Pickering Works plant in Ajax. These were the largest of the shells made at the plant, measuring close to three and a half feet in length when completed, and were quite heavy. The men in suits were most likely foremen, inspectors or supervisors.
