Description: Two of the most notable figures of the Scottish Enlightenment in the late 18th century: the moral philosopher David Hume from Berwickshire and the political economist Adam Smith from Fife, both to be found on the north-west tower of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. The statues are the work of David Watson Stevenson (1842–1904).
