Description: Statue of father Pieter-Jan De Smet s.j. in his hometown Dendermonde. The statue was made after a design of Charles Auguste Fraikin (Herentals 1817-Schaarbeek 1893) and was erected in 1879. In 1982 corrosion had destroyed the inner structure to such a degree that the statue fell off of its pedestal. The present statue is a faithful polyester copy of the original.
