Description: A design for a memorial bridge over the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., in the United States. This was designed in 1900-1901 by Edward Pearce Casey and William H. Burr, and accepted by the United States Secretary of War as acceptable for construction. This bridge was never built, but its low profile had a deep influence on the Arlington Memorial Bridge successfully proposed by the Senate Park Commission in its McMillan Plan in 1902. The view in this watercolor is from the D.C. side, looking across Analostan Island toward the Virginia shoreline.
