Description: Communist East Germany dominated the bobsleigh in the 1970s and 80s, winning gold at Lake Placid in 1980 in this sled. In an exhibition of East German design in Leipzig, which was in the former East Germany. DDR stands for Deutsche Demokratische Republik - German Democratic Republic. Despite the name it was anything but democratic. It was a repressive communist dictatorship.
