Description: Elmfield, Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. It was built in 1787 by Capt. Joseph Wells. His great-granddaughter, Sarah Abbie Gove, inherited the property, at which she held Quaker meetings. A regular summer guest was poet John Greenleaf Whittier, who died here on September 7, 1892. The house was dismantled in 1996 and reconstructed at Greenwich, Connecticut.
