Description: This is an image of a print of a hand coloured engraving by James Sowerby (1757-1822), based on drawing nominally by John White but probably by the convict artist Thomas Watling. It appeared as Tab. IV in James Edward Smith's 1793 A Specimen of the Botany of New Holland. The plant depicted was then known as Embothrium speciosissimum, but is now Telopea speciosissima (Waratah).

The accompanying text explains the figure thus:

1. A flower fully expanded. 2.2. Antherae. 3. Germen. 4. Stigma 5. Follicle. 6.6. Seeds. All of their natural size
