Description: Fort Yuma, Imperial County, southeastern California. Now part of the Quechan Indian Reservation. It was on the Butterfield Overland Mail Company route from 1858-1861, and was abandoned May 16, 1883, and transferred to the Department of the Interior. The Fort Yuma Indian School and Mission now occupy the site. This is an "associated site" in the Yuma Crossing and Associated Sites Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Imperial County . It is California Historical Landmark #806.
