Description: The first Diesel engine to run under its own power. This was the second engine built as part of the work of Rudolf Diesel (the first having never developed useful power). It went through hundreds of modifications between 1893 and 1896. The first successful run occurred Feb 17, 1894. The engine is presently displayed at the headquarters of MAN SE.
