Description: The plateau of the Flat Tops mountains in Colorado is at 11,000 to 12,000 feet in elevation. It is alpine tundra that is generally treeless with grasses and flowering planets that grow close to the ground. By late September the cured flora have turned the plateau brown; it will soon be snow covered. The distant peaks are part of the Flat Tops range.
