Description: Former bonded warehouse, dating from about 1810, in Leith's main commercial street. Junction Street follows the line of the wall of the French fort built between 1548 and 1560 during the regency of Mary of Guise. It was demolished after a combined force of Scottish and English Protestants forced the evacuation of the occupying French troops in the 1560 Siege of Leith. The open "killing ground" in front of the wall became a thoroughfare.
