Description: Former canal, Wymondham Rough SSSI. One of the surviving sections of the former Melton Mowbray to Oakham canal. Opened in 1803, but suffering from lack of water, the canal was sold to the Syston-Peterborough railway company in 1847. As a result, the present rail line closely follows the old line of the canal.
