Description: Continental Army General William Lenoir settled in the Yadkin River Valley of North Carolina after the American Revolutionary War. In 1792 he built a plantation house he called Fort Defiance. The nearby town of Lenoir was named in his honor. Today, the mansion has been fully restored and serves as a historical site and tourist attraction. Credits Photo taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 in Caldwell County, NC, USA.
